Apply one year before the “entry year” of a program
The school application process can be a lengthy one, so be sure to plan ahead. Any school with an application process typically wants families to start one year before they plan to enter the program. The “entry year” is usually when most spots are available (but also can have the most applicants).
- If you have a 2 year old by Sept 1st, then THIS FALL is the best time to apply for programs that begin at 3 years old.
- If you have a 4 year old by Sept 1st, then apply for next year’s Kindergarten programs this Fall
- If you are in 6th grade, then apply to 7th grade Academic Centers this fall.
- If you are in 8th grade, then apply to high school this fall.
Private school applications may already be open and have various deadlines. CPS applications for 2020-2021 admissions open September 30th and close on December 6th.
